About The Event
Please join our dear friend Sean Mizer as he shares his heart and craft on Saturday, March 16th at 5:00 pm for a very special class on ceremonial red drum making. The red drum is a powerful one, with connection to the lunar cycles, the divine feminine and the life blood of creation. This drum pulls with gravitational strength, leading us back to the heartbeat. Red drum leads us back to the root beginnings. Hear the call, for it is time.
For thousands of years the drum can be found throughout history of indigenous people around the world. Sometimes called the frame drum or hand drum. Not only were they used musically while singing and in celebration, but also are considered sacred and used during ceremony, ritual, meditation and prayer.
This time presents you with the chance to make your own drum amidst Heart-Centered community, all while honoring the creative process.
All solid wood frames are hand made by Sean using Western Red Cedar. This class will focus on the hide (elk or deer) cutting and lacing of the drum. There is no woodworking involved (Sean takes care of this). All attendees should dress comfortably and in clothing supportive to work. Bring snacks, water and a large towel to ensure that our work surfaces do not scratch the drum frames.
-Space is limited to 12 attendees -Advanced registration is required -Each 16" drum is $260 or 18" drum is $310 -Once you register, you will receive payment information via email -Payments must be processed to fully reserve your spot
