The Yoga of Herbs: Late Winter Season

The Late Winter season is dominated by the Earthy and Watery force of Kapha that keeps us grounded and strong through the cold and damp months; however, it can make us feel heavy and sluggish if we're not living intentionally. How do we stay grounded and shoo away the winter blues at the same time?

About The Event

The Yoga of Herbs: Late Winter Season Sunday, February 11th 3:00 - 4:30 PM

One of the aims of Yoga is to live with grace and skill. Ayurveda, Yoga's sister science, teaches us to adapt to the changing seasons with the intention that is the foundation for graceful and skillful living.

The Late Winter season is dominated by the Earthy and Watery force of Kapha that keeps us grounded and strong through the cold and damp months; however, it can make us feel heavy and sluggish if we're not living intentionally. How do we stay grounded and shoo away the winter blues at the same time?

One of the main ways we can maintain balance is through the use of herbs, especially with teas. Herbs can be used together in an infusion or decoction to create a specific action, or "yoga." Learn about the best herbs to use in the Late Winter season and how to incorporate them into your everyday life.

We'll look at Late Winter herbs including: >tonics that strengthen the mind-body system against the ravages of stress and prevent disease >respiratory stimulants to keep us breathing deep which increases our intake of Prana, the vital life force >circulatory stimulants to keep us warm and our blood pumping >digestive stimulants that keep our digestive fire burning bright

We will look at Western & Eastern herbs that are most supportive at this time.

You'll get to sample Winter herbs and play with creating your own balancing Late Winter tea. Exchange for this course is $60. Capacity limited to 12 students.

Bring a journal for note-taking and sample tea recipes.

Presented by Heather Burkart, a Certified Ayurvedic Educator (CAE) and Practitioner (CAP), trained in Eastern and Western herbal medicine. She is the founder of Her Well Being Ayurveda & Yoga, www.herwellbeing.com
